OPENING OF ‘THREE CREATIVE WORKSHOPS’ EXHIBITION

Water Colour Workshop creates paintings and friendships

On the 20/21st May a wonderful Free Watercolour Painting workshop was facilitated by local artist and watercolour expert Greg Wilson assisted by another local artist Karin Brear. The participants learned new skills and forged connections with other locals by sharing meals as well as observing each others work. The artwork from this workshop will be on exhibition during the month of June with an Opening on the 11th June. More details soon!

Knotting Friendships with Macrame

The first of a series of 6 free fibre art workshops facilitated by the wonderful Jacquie McLeod of Bonnie Bide Living began on Sunday with happy group creating macrame plant hangers. These FREE workshops are a series of workshops going into 2024 with many local artists facilitating made possible due to the grant we received from @Stronger Country Communities Fund, NSW govt for mental health and well-being.

The ART OF SHIBORI free workshops loved by all

The Art of Shibori Dyeing – another fabulous free workshop for our community facilitated by Michelle Philip assisted by Paul Philip.
Two groups connected and enjoyed learning a new creative skill on the weekend under our project “Strengthening community friendships and resilience through the Arts” funded by Northern Rivers Community Foundation.

CHASING SLOW – Wonderful Free Dance & Creative Arts Experience for Children

CHASING SLOW – ECO DANCE AND VISUAL ART WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN
Iluka Emporium was proud to support our local children and wonderful dance facilitator Mandy Pashen as part of our Embrace program of FREE workshops funded by the Stronger Country Communities Fund, NSW Govt. These 20 children spent 3 days under the guidance of Mandy to create, perform choose music and choreograph their own performance. The evidence of joy and empowerment is clear in these photos. We may be able to download a video at some point. We were pleased to be able to continue to display the children’s artwork for a day yesterday at our Open Day at the Emporium.
Mandy will be facilitating another free children’s workshop under the Embrace program in October. These workshops are for children 5 to 12 years. Bookings : ilukaemporiumworkshops@gmail.com

PAPER PLAY – Successful Free Workshop for Teens and Adults

PAPER PLAY – a wonderful free workshop facilitated by Kerrie Speirs and attended by 10 people of diverse ages interacting together which was great to see. They were having lots of fun exploring different mediums and techniques including frottage. There will be another Paper Play free workshop on Saturday 3rd of June if you missed this one.

OPENING – Greg Wilson – Watercolour painter Saturday 15th April 2 – 4pm

Just a reminder that known local artist and member of Iluka Emporium Greg Wilson is having the opening of his exhibition this coming Saturday 15th April

It will be from 2-4pm. 

Nibbles / drinks and a chance to meet and chat with Greg and others.

As our APRIL FEATURE ARTIST Greg is showing recent watercolours of Iluka boats. Also included are oil seascapes and a couple of watercolour French harbour paintings based on photos taken on excursions to Europe.

Greg Wilson is known for his marine watercolours and has been working in oils and watercolours since a young age.
Watercolour influences include John Singer Sargent, J Hilder and Penleigh
Boyd as well as current masters, Joseph Zbukvic and Alvaro Castanet.
