Linda set sail to circumnavigate the world with her ‘Captain Underpants’ aboard a boat built in their backyard. Armed with her satellite phone and laptop, Linda could write her blog anywhere in the world. Enjoying her tales, readers of Linda’s blog encouraged her to write a book. Linda’s first published memoir ‘Sailing in my Sarong, Around the World – a 30-year dream’ is colourfully illustrated with her original art and photography.
‘ I draw from life capturing the moment as I see it. Travelling provided rich inspiration for my art making. I use pastels , pens and paint to draw the human form, worldscapes, animals and birds. The real world rather than imaginary.
Pique Assiette Mosaic has captured my imaginary visions however as I play with shapes, colours and memories.
Last year I treated myself to a painting tour in Morocco with Wendy Sharpe where I used gouache for the first time. It’s a medium that I am enjoying and exploring painting from life.’

Linda’s second book ‘Salvage in my Sarong, The Mediterranean dream in a rescued boat,’ tells the remarkable story of how Captain Underpants surprises her (and himself), by winning an online bid for a wreck of a boat in the Caribbean. “Lati” had been abandoned, ransacked and almost stolen by pirates. Eventually a romantic cruise through the Mediterranean to the Greek islands became a reality.
